I just sent this blast:
Hello everyone and Happy New Year to you!
As many of you already know, we have been deliberating the advantages and disadvantages of switching from our current online platform (Groupsite) to something different.
This question has arisen because we have reached our maximum number of allowable members for the free version of Groupsite under which we currently operate. We have bumped up against this several times now, forcing us to review our membership and request ‘dormant’ members to drop off, leaving room for new and more active members to take up seats. Instead of limiting ourselves to a max of 50 members, we have reviewed and searched other options for an online platofrm that will continue to allow us to “meet”, invite and accept new members beyond a small maximum, plan and communicate events, share files and photos and create community.
We have selected Facebook as the best option for us at this time. Therefore, we are switching our online platform to Facebook starting now. We will leave this Groupsite up and running until March 31, 2012 which will give each of us ample time to join the new Facebook group, create a Facebook profile if we don’t have one already, navigate and familiarize ourselves to the new platform, etc.
If you do not currently have a Facebook profile, it is easy to register. Visit www.facebook.com and follow the steps outlined.
If you do have a Facebook profile, simply Search for Mid-Island Coaches Network and request to Join. One of us will reply to your request as quickly as possible. Or type in this address to your web browser to be taken to the page immediately: https://www.facebook.com/groups/midislandcoachesnetwork/
We will not continue to update this site – please ensure you log in to Facebook as soon as possible, join our Group and keep up-to-date on our events and discussions.
If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to me, Tania Walter Gardiner or Janyne Sinclaire. As with all new learning and change, we anticipate some bumps along the way. Please be gentle with yourselves as you become accustomed to doing things differently and allow yourself the time and the space to be curious and to familiarize yourself with the new platform.
Many thanks to all of you who make this MICN community vibrant and valuable. I send you my best wishes for a most amazing 2012.
With love,
Laura
